Our Honeymoon

I haven’t done a blog post in ages because work got really busy and although it’s still fun here, I stopped doing exciting things – or at least I stopped taking my camera to all the exciting things I was doing. With our honeymoon coming up, I knew I couldn’t just rely on my phone to take photos so Hannah and I bought ourselves a go pro for Christmas. I got very excited about using it on holiday and I didn’t realise how much I loved the sound of my own voice until I started commentating on everything we were doing. Hannah had to have a quiet word to put an end to this as it was pretty annoying! For the honeymoon itself, we went to Krabi and spent a week in Ao Nang, followed by a couple of nights in Phi Phi then 4 nights in Koh Lanta and finally one night in Krabi town. As the camera was new, I decided to try and film most things on it and loved the fact it could go underwater. For this reason, I really overused it and came back with a lot of videos which are very dull and very boring. I tried uploading them so everyone could enjoy 12 minutes of me arsing about with a camera on my head, but only managed to upload one video before I got bored of it all. Hannah made a lovely video which is properly edited and is played along to music so give her an email if you want to see the “best bits” (which are still pretty dull). We got into Krabi in the evening and got a taxi to Ao Nang and our hotel – the Phra Nang Inn Hotel. It was lovely, had a couple of pools and was right by the beach. That evening, we went for a low key meal then got an early night ready for the next day. The first day we decided to explore around Ao Nang and the beach. This mainly involved me being annoying with the camera and Hannah trying to swim away from me. In hindsight I was a little over excited but we had an awesome time and I couldn’t believe how nice the beach was. We had some lovely food for dinner and got a massage from our hotel which was nice! We got a speedboat over to a cool island and were told it might be too shallow to swim. We decided to give it a go, but it turned out that it really was too shallow and Hannah hurt her feet on the sharp rocks. Still it was a cool place to take some photos! Then we went to somewhere called Paradise Beach. It was beautiful and I had my first proper go at snorkelling. Being all excited about the go pro, I strapped it to my head to see underwater. Unfortunately, I didn’t really look down enough for it to stay underwater. At one point, a nice French sounding couple said they’d seen a big fish and called us over. As we went over to have a look, they said it was under a rock a bit further down. I looked into the water to see and just managed to see our go pro falling down off my head. I grabbed at it but it went too quickly to catch. Luckily it landed on a rock about 3m below the water. Feeling like I had to rectify my problem, I dived under to go and get it. On the way down my ear burst (I’ve got dodgy ears so this is really quite painful for me) but determined, I swam further down. I saw the camera on the ledge, narrowly avoiding a much deeper part of the sea. I swam over to get it and saw the fish the French couple had told us about. It wasn’t a fish though, I later found out it was a Moray Eel. I swam near it and saw it looked pretty grumpy and like one of those fishes you see on nature documentaries which is always bullying other fish. I decided to go on up to the surface, think it over and go back with a plan. When I went up, as I wasn’t used to snorkelling, I swallowed some sea water and felt really sick and my ear was really painful. I waddled back to shore, only just missing out on stepping on long spined sea urchins which I later found out have slightly poisonous spines which dissolve in your foot if you step on them. I didn’t get any man points for losing the camera, then failing to retrieve it, but thankfully the French guy was a lot better than me at going underwater and managed to get the camera back with a stick, so the day wasn’t ruined! We then went to another bay where we did some more relaxed snorkelling. I attached the go pro to my head a little better and stayed clear of any deep looking bits. We then went back to the hotel, had a nice meal out then went out for a drink. Hannah was all keen for getting a bucket of long island iced tea and going mental, but I really wanted to see some ladyboys so I dragged her along to a cabaret. Much to my surprise, there were children in the audience and then began the weirdest hour I have ever seen. I basically spent a tenner to watch men strap their bits up, dress like women then dance around to cabaret songs. They didn’t sing – they just mimed. The worst bit was though, some of them looked pretty decent (although some of them looked like blokes in drag). I kept the beer in my hand as affirmation of how hetro and manly I was then tried to make sense of what I had seen after the show. The next day however we went… Rock Climbing! So on Wednesday we went to Railay beach to go rock climbing. It’s meant to be great for rock climbing and we booked a full day of it. When we got there, we met our guide who was really friendly and he took us to some of the climbs. He taught us how to stay safe and to use our legs a bit more. We had the great idea of wearing the go pro as we climbed, but the videos are a bit crap – still it’s a nice view from the top! We both managed to climb the easy one, then a cool one called King Cobra. We got most of the way up a taller one too. Then our instructor decided to give us one with a massive overhang at the beginning. It was mental and we couldn’t even make it onto the rock let alone up it. At this point we stopped for lunch. At lunch we found that our arms were pretty much dead from all the climbing. In the future, I’d recommend only doing a half a day unless you are hardcore as the afternoon was a lot harder. We both managed a couple of climbs, but towards the end of the day, both of us were just unable to grip so had to come down from the climbs. Still, it was a great day and a beautiful place to go climbing. Oh I just need to add, there was a climb near the end where there was a small overhang. Hannah beasted it on her 3rd or 4th attempt. When I had a go I couldn’t get up it, which I took as proof that she was stronger than me. When we got back to the room that night I did some pressups to try and feel manly again but it didn’t work. On Thursday we had a relaxing day at Railay Beach. We got a longtail boat over and just relaxed. The beach was beautiful although there were a lot of signs up advertising a shooting range, where you could shoot a shotgun and a sniper rifle. If seemed pretty ridiculous so I had to persuade Hannah not to go – she was a little bit grumpy but overall was ok with it. That evening we went for a nice Indian meal out. It was delicious, but it mucked us both up pretty badly. We had no idea as we went to bed that tomorrow would be forever known as… The Purge. On Friday, Hannah was ill through the night then we were both ill all day. It was a brutal day and not one I’d ever like to repeat. On the plus side though, I did feel more confident when I went topless to go swimming, so every cloud… On Saturday, we booked a full day tour. We started off going to the tiger temple, which as far as I can see has nothing to do with tigers. We walked an impressive 1,237 steps (some were as high as my knee). We made it up and got some water at the bottom. A monkey tried to steal mine, but I punched it and it let go. (not really). My legs would shake uncontrollably when I stood still because of the massive climb, it was pretty embarrassing and again made me wish I’d been to the gym a bit more before we’d left. After the tiger temple we went to an elephant sanctuary and got to ride an elephant! I think it was ethically pretty suspect, but it was cool because we were on an elephant! I didn’t realise how bumpy the ride would be and Hannah didn’t feel too good. After riding it, we also got to feed the elephants and saw a baby elephant doing some tricks. I thought that the elephant must have been treated pretty poorly to get it to do the tricks, so was happy to see that when they gave it a basket (to walk around us tourists and collect tips), the elephant walked past everyone, dropped the basket and ran off into the forest! We made some new friends as well! There was a couple from Russia who were on the tour with us and on the elephant in front of us. As we couldn't get good photos of us on the elephant, they took some pictures for us and we took some pictures of them. We exchanged email addresses so we could email each other the photos and that was the end of that... Or so I thought! We ended up sat next to them at lunch and made awkward conversation. After this was the emerald pool, which was like a big, natural outdoor swimming pool. It didn’t look all that emeraldy, but the photos make it look pretty cool. The sides were really slippery so I filmed Hannah trying to get out. Then it started to rain but we were already wet so it was all good – it actually looked pretty cool! After this, we went to some hot springs. These were awesome, they were like natural baths carved out of the rock in the earth, and flowing through was some hot water (like hot bath type of warm). It was really weird but very relaxing. When we got back to Ao Nang, because of the food poisoning, we got a McDonalds and felt very ashamed of ourselves. On the way home we stopped and looked at the beautiful sea in the moonlight. Then saw a young boy do a poo in the sand then ran around naked for a little bit before washing his arse off in the sea. Lovely! On Sunday we got the ferry boat to Phi Phi. We were sat down, talking and then I feel a hand on my shoulder. It's the Russian couple, they just so happen to be getting the same ferry to Phi Phi as us. They asked what we were doing in Phi Phi and I told them that we'd probably just chill out and go kayaking. Then the guy starts talking about us both going around the different places that offer kayaking and try to find the best deal. I think he wanted to rent kayaks with us and all go kayaking together. They were on their honeymoon too, and I was a little surprised at his stinginess. It was only around £2 difference to rent out the kayaks from the cheap ones, and I had planned to rent it from our hotel. Anyway, being British, I didn't say any of this as we politely agreed to let them know the cheapest quote we found on a kayak. Another weird incident on the ferry was at one point there was a baby crying, then an American sounding guy sat in front of us stood up and left saying (quite loudly) “I can’t handle this shit”. I just felt sorry for his poor wife who was still sat there looking mildly embarrassed. When we got to our hotel, it was so cool! our hotel had a private beach and all of the rooms were spread out in the jungley trees. We had quite a nice room so mozzies weren’t an issue. We started off by sitting and enjoying the beach. A cat came over to greet us but then did a wet and very smelly poo right in front of us. It dug it down under the sand but I knew it was there… We had dinner at the hotel that night, but unfortunately it made Hannah ill again so she was bed-bound for most of our time there…. I on the other hand had a lovely time, I went into town (to get medicine in my defence) and came back along the rocks at the shoreline and saw a load of crabs. On my way to town though, I ran into our Russian counterparts and awkwardly explained that we hadn't gone kayaking in the end as Hannah was ill. They kindly showed me where the pharmacy was in town and talked about their negative experience of the island so far. I on the other hand was having a great time! On our last day in Phi Phi Hannah felt a little bit better so we went down to Long Beach and went swimming and sun bathing. It was very cool, then we got the ferry to: Koh Lanta. Koh Lanta was probably my favourite place of all the islands. When we got there, our hotel was pretty basic, but comfortable, but the lady who ran it (Mama Nong) was very friendly. As everything was pretty much along one big road, we hired a scooter and headed down to Old Town. This was a lovely place because it was a bit more relaxed. We had some cake and coffee in a nice café and played some Hello Kitty Uno. The next day we just scooted around the island and had a lovely dinner. Christmas day was a bit weird because it was my first one away from home. We opened some wonderful gifts from Hannah’s granny (Thank you!!) and then we went to meet our friends from KL who also happened to be on holiday there. It rained a lot on Koh Lanta but that didn’t stop us from going out and enjoying ourselves! We were caught out in heavy rain whilst out on the scooter and we both got soaked. When we got back to the hotel we decided to go for a swim though – it was good fun and nice being able to go swimming in the rain because it wasn’t too cold or anything! Before we left Koh Lanta we went to see the animal welfare centre and hung out with some cute kittens and some lovely dogs. They do some great work there, so we considered adopting one of the dogs and sending them to live with my mum. Unfortunately you need to fill in paper work so we settled for cuddling kittens. The next day we went on the ferry to Krabi town. Hannah was so tired she fell asleep and I couldn’t resist the urge to take a couple of selfies! In the guidebook, it said Krabi town was more authentic than other places, although I thought it was just a bit crap. It was quite nothingy and you still got heckled by people trying to sell you things “taxi taxi taxi taxi taxi” We saw a really cool temple which we weren’t allowed inside but it was really calm and peaceful around the grounds. We had a delicious Italian dinner then had an early night ready for our flight home. When we got back, due to all the days in bed due to food poisoning and the fact that Thailand is quite cheap, we had quite a bit of money left over, so we went on a shopping trip. I got some new clothes and some nice shampoo which I think is fair compensation for a horrible day spent in bed on my honeymoon.

Classic Bants

So last week, Han and I went on a night out with some of the people she used to go to school with. A random guy was there called Lionel and he was the poshest guy I have ever met! He was like Jack Whitehall if Jack Whitehall wasn't funny. Anyway we went to a bar called Helipad. Fittingly it was on the top of a building and was a helipad. We got great views of the Petronas Towers and it was probably the nicest view I've seen so far. We decided not to take a picture though.... After that we went to get some food and watch Lionel try to interact with the locals. He was like a boy from Eaton on a school trip and it was awkward and disturbing. Unfortunately his attention turned to us and he regaled us with stories of classic bants such as the time he "dropped some E" at a house party. He was so wild that after 2 beers he even drove his scooter..... without a helmet!!!! Luckily he left soon after to try and "score some ladies" so we quickly went to another bar and a good time was had by all. We ended up in a place called Havanas and made arrangements with a nice couple we met to have dinner the next day and invite them to rock climbing. We did not do either of these things. The next day was cool as we went rock climbing. After living on the 17th floor for 2 months, the 30m high wall was nothing so I overcame my fear and managed to make it to the top. Han and I even had a go at Bilet - ing for each other. We weren't great, but definitely better than I was expecting and we'd love to go again! In the evening we went to games night round a friends house. We enjoyed some curry and nice company and then the games came out... One of them was articulate - pretty standard. The next game involved shoving a coin between your cheeks and then trying to deposit it in a glass. All was going well until one girl managed to lose the coin for a while but play resumed after she managed to wiggle it out. The next "game" was rubbish for me. The idea was that from standing, you have to pick up a cereal box with your mouth without using your arms. This "game" is essentially a hamstring flexibility test which reminded me of the days when I used to go swimming with Sev and he used to play "who can walk furthest into the deep end on their knees" which is essentially a game of "whos taller". Needless to say I did not win this game of flexibility and it was even stopped for a while as one guy (who must have been quite competitive) pulled his muscle quite badly. Han did really well at the game so I'm getting her to give me flexibility training in the evenings. Next week was back to work as usual, it's getting a bit easier now as we settle down into a routine. Loads of people are getting ill from dodgy food and Han was struck down mid week. I was generally amazing and helped out a lot. This weekend has been fun - yesterday we went into town and decided to see a lot of the touristy things. We started in Petaling Street which is in Chinatown and had a lush meal for around £6 each (including a drink). All the stalls there sell knock off handbags, shirts etc and rely on haggling so I stayed clear of them. After that we went to the Sin Sze Si Ya temple (I have no ideas how to say it). It was really cool and was full of burning incense and people praying to various different statues. The big lions out the front looked amazing and someone had even put iced gems in their mouths in case they were hungry. After this we went to the Central Market which was a big disappointment. If I need cheap tat I'll go there but if not I'll stay away. The building was pretty cool though and historic! Finally we went to Masjid Jamek which is a Mosque. It was really nice and we had to wear robes to cover ourselves up. They had a place to pray but tourists weren't allowed up there. It then began to rain and everyone had to cram under a small gazebo as it all began to flood. It was all very beautiful and I'd love to see some more buildings. We also went and had a massage at an amazing place which was both relaxing AND felt like it did some good and then went to watch a film in the cinema. For a premium seat, a large popcorn and coke combo, it came to around 6 pounds - so we will definitely be doing this again! We've booked our Honeymoon to Krabi, Phi phi and Koh Lanta which looks fun and we've also booked a half term getaway in Malacca for a couple of nights. Coming up we've also invited people over for Halloween too so hopefully there will be lots more nice photos to share in the future.

Half Term

Half Term The main beasty bits of half term were: 1) The wedding present. A lot of my friends chipped in and got Han and I a private day tour around some really cool places. Photos are on facebook. We got to go to Batu caves which was beautiful and I saw a cockerel trying to scavenge food from an angry monkey. Then we went to a deer sanctuary where we fed some deer. I also got to hold a mini dragon and an albino hedgehog! We noticed that one of the snakes wasn't in the cage and turned around to see it on the path. It was a massive python with one of the workers and Han and I had a go at holding it. It felt really heavy but nice and smooth. After a quick lunch we went to the elephant sanctuary. After a weird video about moving elephants, we got our own tour guide who showed us how they cared for the elephants. We got to try some of the elephants food (surprisingly nice!) and got to help chop up some papaya for the elephants to eat. We also got to hand feed a baby elephant which was really cute. They took the food with their trunks but if you held the food in the air then they put their trunks up and let you put it on their tongue. It was so much fun and we had a great time! Unfortunately the water was too high to go in and bathe them but it was an amazing time nevertheless. After this we went to Kuala Selengor where we had already been with the school to see the monkeys. This time we were a little bit braver and managed to get the monkeys to come and sit on our shoulders. They were so cute although they were very greedy and tried to steal all the food. After this was dinner, fireflies then home. It was a wonderful day filled with some memories that I will keep for the rest of my life. 2) Malaka The next day we went to Malaka just 2 hours drive South. We got the bus and found our hostel. It was so peaceful and quiet and f it was cleaner then would have been a hipster's paradise. Just walking along the road we saw a massive dragon like lizard. Upon asking the owner, it turns out that there are 4 of them although they only really eat fish. We ate some lush food and saw some of the many many temples there are. It was lovely to be in a quieter place and it really felt like a relaxing mini break. Some of the food highlights included dim sum, rice balls, nyonya food, a lush little breakfast place and of course red bean pudding??? We found a bar called Mr and Mrs Jones which often has live music. As it was empty at the time, they allowed me up to the stage bit and plugged in a guitar whilst I played a couple of songs. It wasn't great but then Han joined in and san a couple of songs with me so saved the day! Another cool bar was a reggae one on the river. It was 15RM for a drink but was the same price for a single or double?!?! So I had a double and enjoyed listening to the music. Some of the museums there were a bit sexist and weird. The museum of beauty just had loads of pictures and info about foot binding, body mutilation and such. It was quite disturbing so we quickly left! 3) Nicholas Cage When we got back to KL we went to the cinema to watch a Nicholas Cage film. As usual it was ridiculous but unintentionally very funny!

Work, food and football

It's been a ridiculous few weeks. 

Work has been pretty full on, but unlike in the UK, when I come back home it's not just TV then bed! Here there are loads of cool things to do, see and eat. I've not managed to take many photos but will put on some of the ones I've taken in no particular order...

At the weekend we went to a massive mall (again!) which on one floor turns into a "Tokyo Street". Everything is laid out in a kind of Japanese style and you get to see lots of traditional Japanese stuff. It's really good so I thought I'd do the stereotypical peace sign pose!

This is me (very hungover) outside the main staircase for Tokyo street. On the way home from this shopping trip I had to ask the taxi driver to pull over and walk the last 400m in torrential rain because I was still feeling so rough from the night out before! - We had gone for a casual drink with work people then it turned out to be one of their stag do's. A few pints later I pretty much just tag along on this stag do (forgetting to have dinner too). I was so happy to find cider that I just got a bit over excited and ended up being sick at home. It was pretty funny going in on Monday morning and seeing the guys and piecing together my night!

These mini cupcakes from the brilliantly named: Wondermilk were delicious - I'm not sure if they were healthy though! We followed this by going to "Fatboy's Burgers" which again wasn't the most healthy of choices!

 I saw loads of people taking photos outside of this shop front and thought it was pretty gimmicky so wanted to take the piss. I later found out it had opened that day and Robbie Fowler had been there with the opening. I wonder if he still wears his nose band now he's retired... The funniest bit was the replica champions league trophy they had outside. People were taking photos of it and posing next to it. Hannah asked me if it was the real one and for a moment I had to think about it. Then I remembered:
1. They haven't won it for a decade
2. It would be in the club not in Malaysia
3. If it was in Malaysia it wouldn't be in some crappy mall
4. They had 1 security guard watching over it.

 Big fish. They had a video screen in the sushi place we had lunch of this fish being brought in. It was a monster! Would have made a shit load of sushi though.

 This is my Jack Daniels float at Fatboys burger place. It was lush. They are a big fan of the float here and so am I. Sometimes it gets a bit curdley and I sometimes feel a bit sick after one but it's all part of the fun.

Living the high life! We only had a choice between expensive vodka (around 20 quid) or a really cheap one (under a fiver). I don't want to know what is in the cheap one! The mixer of choice was mango juice though in an interesting bottle!

Sorry the blog has been a bit poop this week but next weekend we get a 3 day weekend! Han and I are going to head into town as tourists and try to see lots of things which I'll take photos of. If anyone is actually reading this and wants to propose a ridiculous photo idea for me to try and take next weekend, send me a message on facebook and I'll try to do it!

Work and Home

Hello,

This week has been mental with work, so I haven't been able to be out and about doing fun things. Mainly I've just been at work (even on my Saturdays) or going to one of the cheap restaurants in Sri Hartamas which is a 5 min walk away.

I'm not going to write very much more this week because it's 6pm and this is the first free time I've had all week! Work is great but has been very intense, and I'm trying to make the most of being in this wonderful Country!

First Week of the big KL

So Malaysia has been pretty cool so far! This first picture is of my legs in Dubai airport. I was happy and having fun, not knowing how shit I would feel from jetlag just 12 hours later. A fun fact about Dubai airport, I was dying for the loo, so went to the loo. It was filled to the brim with piss. I went to another cubicle. The same thing! I tried flushing it down but unfortunately it just refilled it to the brim with piss. I was very afraid but had to go for it. The worst bit was feeling the heat rising from the warm piss. (Sorry Mum, I know you're probably going to read this!)

At Dubai airport we randomly got bumped up to Business class for no reason. I'd only ever been on easyjet before, so Emirates Economy class had already blown my mind, but business class was so good, I just had to take some photos of it. 

They actually made some effort with the food! Was pretty nice!

This seat was the best thing ever. It went back into a bed if you wanted and I had an ipad next to me to control it with! I ended up putting on the noise cancelling headphones, the eye mask and falling asleep listening to Norah Jones like a proper lad.

I genuinely didn't think I was tired at this point but I think the photo tells a different story!

As a guy who's afraid of heights, I wasn't best pleased to hear we were on the 22nd floor of our hotel (we are staying here for 2 weeks whilst the school put on induction activities). I do have to say though that the view was beautiful and was especially cool watching the lightning during one of the frequent thunder storms!

Cheeky sunset!

One of the cool things about my new school is they took us out on a few trips to see KL. We were randomly having dinner in the Chinatown part of town when this big procession of people came down the street. In amongst the mentalness, I saw my first Chinese dragon! Then loads of people let off firecrackers which was pretty cool, but I don't really know what the point of this was. Made my sweet and sour chicken all the sweeter though!

On one of the days Han and I went to see what all the fuss was about with the Petronas towers. There are lots of big buildings here (so many hotels and condos) so I thought it wouldn't be very impressive. It was amazingly impressive. We had to travel back really far to photograph it and even then couldn't get it all in! We're going to wait until people come to visit to go up them but I cannot describe how big they are. They are bigger than anything I've ever seen in Somerset!

 Another cool trip we went on with the school involved going out of KL. I really loved all the naturey stuff out there and this river was beautiful. We were eating in a restaurant that backed onto the river and I managed to catch these pictures of the sunset. As Malaysia is near the equator, the sun rises and sets really quick so it's all over quite fst. Very beautiful though! The restaurant was lush and I got to smash a crap claw with a hammer and ate some delicious fish!

After the meal, we went a few miles away (in the dark) to a place where we were taken our on little boats on a smaller river than this. When we got close, we could see some fireflies! It was awesome and one landed on Hannah. They were so small, at first we thought they were conning us with fairy lights, but then saw them moving around. We are going again in the half term and I'll try and get hold of a better camera to take some photos.

This is me in a chinese restaurant. Still looking pretty jetlagged. I had no idea how much jetlag takes it out of you. I was absolutely blazed for 4 days when I got here and nearly fainted in a train station! I was being a bit of an idiot and had gone to the gym 2 days in a row and was drinking my usual tiny amount of water. I soon realised that water was actually pretty important in a climate such as this so have been drinking loads of water ever since!

As part of one of the school trips, they took us to a monkey place. This wasn't a conservation area, just a random road up a hill. The monkeys were pretty laid back and climbing on people if they thought they had food! They had a really chilled out manner as you can see from these photos.

This guy here had a nice little surprise for me!

One of the things we learned was that when you put down a deposit for renting a house, this is all done in cash. As such Han and I have taken out around £2000 which is about 11,000RM. This was my wad full of 100s and I felt pretty rich!

A post about the first two weeks would not be complete without mentioning some of the food. At first it was all a bit bewildering and the fact that some places leave the bones in the chickens takes some getting used to! After I got used to it though, I got a bit more adventurous with my choices.

On the left is mango and salmon skin sushi and on the right is salmon, lobster and mayo sushi. The other picture is of me drinking some mango juice - it was lovely!

This place was awesome because we ordered a plate of food then when it came the guy blowtorched it! It caught fire for a little bit then when it calmed down we were able to eat it! On it was a flame grilled fish, fish bites, prawns, mussels, rice and veg. All for around a tenner!

 This badboy was like £6, and was a salmon set. We got teriyaki salmon, 7 bits of sushi, miso soup, salad, pickles, some disgusting looking mushroom broth (which went solid by the end of the meal) and watermelon for pudding. Very nice!

 So yeah, we went to dominoes, but I was glad to see they had slightly different pizzas out here. I went for this monstrous sounding badboy! As we walked into dominoes, I saw a cockroach crawling around on the floor. As I was pretty hungry, I didn't mention this to Han until after the meal.

 This is a little side street in Bukit Bintang which is quite a built up area. A few streets back though and you get a wonderful road full of street food. Han took a photo of me which looks down the street. It was really cool and I'd love to come back and try some more of the food!

Oh I totally forgot to mention, the reason I'm here is the teaching, so we got to look around our new school and although it's a bit building sighty in places, the resources are fantastic. Don't wanna put the name of it or website link here in case any of my blogs are anything less than professional but if you know me, you know where it is, check it out because it's amazing, hopefully I'm going to really enjoy teaching there!

This week we have been sorting things out, so Han and I now have OLD phones with Malaysian numbers. These phones still have polyphonic ringtones so are pretty funny and every now and then a torch light comes on and we don't know how to turn it off. Still, it was useful for contacting estate agents.

Which brings me onto the lush news. I can now safely say that we are moving in to our new apartment on Tuesday. The condo is called Verve Suites we are in the Vox building (Block D) in a Duo Centrix apartment. As it's only 6 months old, it looks exactly like the sales photo. The apartment is amazing, although that isn't the selling point. On the top floor of each block is something cool everyone can use for example there's a nice rooftop garden and pond on the top of Block C. On top of Block D is a beach!!!! They have put a beach on top of the building and shoved in an infinity pool on the 34th floor. As if that wasn't enough, there's also a jacuzzi there too somewhere. There's 2 gyms, numerous other pools, communal indoor and outdoor cinemas and even a grocery shop! I never thought I'd be able to live like this, but for the same money as I paid for a tiny 2 bedroom flat in Brighton, I get a beach on my roof. Life is pretty amazing at the moment!

 And finally... this is a little bit of bunny origami that was left on our bed by the maid. I think it sums up our experience of Malaysia so far. Everyone has been so helpful, polite and kind and I really look forward to finding out more about it as I live here over the next 2 years.
